How do I make a constructive contribution on Buzzy?

What makes a contribution unsuitable for Buzzy?

We want everyone to feel welcome and valued on Buzzy. Violating our Code of Conduct, such as by making discriminatory comments about race, gender, religion, and other personal traits, intentionally misleading others, or creating repetative content, may result in action being taken against your account.

What happens after I cast a vote?

After voting on a Topic, you will be informed of the remaining duration and be notified once it becomes a Result. Results that indicate a clear majority in favour of a specific course of action can help to justify real world change.

Is my activity private?

Yes, your votes and contributions are anonymous by default. We want everyone to be able to share their thoughts openly and honestly.

Why do I need to prove my identity?

Democratic voting only works when everyone's vote is equal. We require certain identifying details from you to ensure that all new users are New Zealand citizens who do not already have a Buzzy account. Although we verify your real identity, it is not revealed to other users. Your identity will remain anonymous.

What other information does Buzzy collect about me?

Creating an account on Buzzy involves creating a username, email, and password. We then collect a few demographic details including your region, age, gender (optional), ethnicity (optional). Buzzy then tracks user interactions in order to generate meaningful statistical insights that enhance the user experience.

How does Buzzy protect my personal information?

We adhere strictly to our Privacy Policy, which complies fully with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 to ensure that your personal information is only used for enhancing the user experience. We use encryption and other security measures to protect your data and provide clear options for you to control your privacy settings.

What happens to my data if I delete my account?

When you delete your Buzzy account, all of your personal data is removed from our system. Your username will not be visible to other users after you have deleted your account, however comments you've left will remain visible to maintain system integrity and continuity of in-app discussions.

How can I report problematic content or a data breach?

If you encounter a comment that you believe violates our Community Guidelines, you can use our in-app reporting feature to alert moderators. If you have any concerns about your privacy or suspect a data breach, please contact support.
