Between September and November 2025, Buzzy was piloted by students at Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington, testing it's capacity to surface actionable, community-sourced ideas for change. The test was a major success, with feedback from students being used to guide development and the design of the Buzzy experience. Under the approval of VUW's Human Ethics Committee, Political Science academic Dr. Luke Oldfield has been approved to include findings in his research on whether digital technology could sustain direct deliberative democracy in New Zealand.
