Between September-November 2025, and February-May 2026, Buzzy was piloted by students at Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington. The initial 2025 pilot demonstrated Buzzy's capacity to surface actionable, community-sourced ideas for change.

Feedback from students was used to guide further development ahead of a redeployment supported by VUWSA in Trimester 1 2026. Political Scientist Dr. Luke Oldfield was approved by the University's Human Ethics Committee to include the findings of this deployment in his research on how digital technologies may be used to enhance democracy in New Zealand.
