Welcome to our community! To ensure a safe, respectful and enjoyable environment for everyone, we ask all members to follow these Community Guidelines. These guidelines are a brief summary of the rules. By participating in our community, you agree that you have read and will abide by our more detailed Code of Conduct and agree to our Privacy Policy.
1. Be respectful and kind
1.1 Treat others with courtesy - Always communicate in a respectful and considerate manner. Healthy debates are fine, but personal attacks or hateful comments are not. Example: If you disagree with someone’s opinion, critique the idea without insulting the person.
1.2 No harassment or bullying - We have zero tolerance for harassment, hate speech, or discrimination. This includes derogatory language, slurs, or targeting someone based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability or any personal characteristic. Example: Do not use offensive slurs or threaten another member; such behaviour will result in removal.
2. Keep it appropriate
2.1 Respect privacy - Do not share personal information about others without consent. Protect your own privacy too. Example: Never post someone else’s home address, email or private conversation publicly.
2.2 Keep it civil - Avoid posting content that is excessively graphic, obscene or intended to shock or offend. Our discussions should be suitable for a respectful, diverse public audience.
2.3 Obey the law and community standards - Do not use Buzzy for illegal activity, threats, or inciting harm. Respect New Zealand laws, including those on digital harm, privacy and human rights.
3. Stay on Topic
3.1 Share accurate information - Only post what you believe to be true, and avoid sharing misleading claims or sources. If in doubt, ask for clarification rather than presenting rumours as fact.
3.2 Keep your contributions relevant - Keep discussions and content relevant to the community’s purpose. Post in the appropriate proposal threads. Off-topic content may be removed to keep the community focused.
3.3 No spam or self-promotion - Spamming the community with repetitive posts, advertisements or irrelevant links is not allowed.
4. Follow Moderation and Community Spirit
4.1 Listen to the moderators - Our admin and moderator team is here to uphold these guidelines. If they ask you to stop doing something or adjust your behaviour, please comply. They may remove content or users that violate the rules to protect the community.
4.2 Report problems, don’t escalate - If you see someone violating the guidelines, don’t engage in fights or public shaming. Instead report the issue to moderators so it can be handled appropriately.
4.3 Keep it friendly and fun - Our community thrives on positivity and constructive debate. Encourage others, give helpful feedback, and help contribute to a healthy and safe atmosphere.
Thank you for being a part of our community and following these guidelines. By doing so, you help make this space welcoming for everyone. Remember that by agreeing to these Community Guidelines, you affirm that you’ve read and accept our complete Code of Conduct and Privacy Policy. Thanks for helping to make the Buzzy community awesome!
