Despite the fact that Aotearoa New Zealand is more digitally connected than ever before, we are still struggling to make consequential decisions efficiently and equitably. Buzzy aims to change that by enabling everyday people to influence local decision-making and shape national discourse.

Kieran Belworthy
Co-founder
My motivation for creating Buzzy was fairly simple: I felt like I had no ability to influence the decisions that were going to directly impact my future. I wasn’t the type to organise protests or find signatures for a petition, and there was no other convenient way for me to be heard. But why should people like me be locked out of influencing real change? I built Buzzy so that Kiwis can share a platform where they can advocate for the changes they want to see in a simple, healthy and easy way.

Kieran holds a BCom in Information Science and Management from the University of Otago. Kieran is from Southland and currently lives in Wellington.

Campbell Sharplin
Co-founder
I co-founded Buzzy because I believe that everyday people often make the most realistic assessments of the challenges facing our communities, yet they do not have an outlet to meaningfully influence change. In my view, informed public judgment is the key to strengthening our democracy and restoring community trust in leadership. Buzzy helps to achieve this by amplifying the best ideas about how to solve our most pressing collective challenges.

Cam grew up near Rangiora and moved to Wellington in 2019. He holds a Master's degree in Strategic Studies and is on the committee of Trust Democracy NZ.
